Joan Bitagcol: The underrated mannequin

Jo Ann Bitagcol is the local fashion industry’s most kept secret for only the elite ones know her. Is Rocky Salumbides really the First Pinoy Ford Model?

Hot Rocky Salumbides is a filipino supermodel, dubbed by ABS-CBN as the First Pinoy Ford Model (Really? Brent Chua please don’t be mad). But before he set his foot to supermodeldom he started out as a balut (boiled chicken egg embryo) vendor, he hadn't graduated college, (and I suppose, If you ever reached this level of stardom, quitting college is just like refusing a buck over a grand), for financial reasons. His mother, as of my knowing, has diabetes by the way. Thanks to his Chinese and Puerto Rican ancestry he now is a supermodel.

He was discovered by a scout on a mall, if I remembered correctly (his interview on Rated K), and then joined a model search. Poof! All of the sudden he modeled for famous couturiers like Gucci, Dior, D & G and etc.

He was being dubbed as The First Pinoy Ford Model (when Brent Chua really was the first and Charo Ronquillo as second, Verns Buckley as third, I think) by ABS-CBN based on their poor research. He even said he was discovered by Jinky Illusorio as he was playing basketball with his friends (who’s the inconsistent here? me or him?).

If you can’t see him on the local magazines, just relax, he must be busy strutting the catwalks of Milan, Italy.

Wu Chun and Calvin Chen on ASAP 08

Both loveless Wu Chun and Calvin Chen of the famous taiwanese boy band, Farenheit, arrived at the Philippines on July 12, 2008 to make a tour of their teleseries Romantic Princess.
Wu has been in the Philippines a lot of times, according to Pang Masa, when he was not a star yet. He was a former fitness instructor, a model, and a chairman of a hotel chain in Brunei before he came to Taiwan and become a superstar (he wasn't fluent of Mandarin yet when he accepted his first lead role). He owns a health club at Brunei and added that he employed filipinos on his club and is proud to learn a few pinoy words: " mahal kita, salamat, komusta ka?"

Calvin on the other hand has visited the Philippines when he was still a teen together with his family.

Both Calvin, 28, and Wu, 29 come from a rich family. Wu's family is an exclusive distributor of Mitsubishi motors. While Calvin's dad is a VP of a company in Taipei. Wu is a business administration grad of RMIT University in Melbourne. That's why he knows how to speak english. While Calvin is a graduate of Simon Fraser University in Canada and a master's degree holder in Economics of University of Victoria (wow, not just pretty faces!).

They are surprised on how warm they are received by the filipino fans. Both Wu and Calvin are part of the taiwanese boy band, Farenheit, who not only sings but dances as well.

Getting to know the Super Junior!

A little Background (in case you've forgotten, haha):

Super Junior (Korean: 슈퍼주니어), also known as simply SJ or SuJu (Korean: 슈주), is a thirteen-member Korean boy band formed by SM Entertainment in 2005, masterminded by Lee Soo Man. The group initially debuted with twelve members on November 6, 2005 with the single, "TWINS (Knock Out)". The original twelve members, from oldest to youngest, are Leeteuk (the leader), Heechul, Han Geng, Yesung, Kang-In, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kibum. The Chinese member, Han Geng, was chosen among the 3,000 applicants through auditions held in China by SM Entertainment in 2001.

Many of the members had already pursued an entertainment career before Super Junior's debut through acting, DJ-ing, and modeling. On May 23, 2006 SM Entertainment announced the addition of a new member, Kyuhyun, making them the thirteen-member group they are today.

Shocking event:

On April 19, 2007 at about 12:20 a.m. (Korean time)^[47] four members of Super Junior, Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Kyuhyun, and two managers were injured in a car crash. The driver lost control of the vehicle as the van flipped over on its right side.^[48]

Kyuhyun, who was sitting behind the driver's seat when the accident occurred, was severely injured with a fractured hip, pneumothorax from fractured ribs, and facial scratches/bruises.^[47][49] Leeteuk had a successful operation removing the glass shards in his back, and received a total of 170 stitches on his face and his back.^[50][51]

Dawn is a 5'6'' tall teen Penshoppe model .This pretty 18 year old gal from Bicol is a self- confessed music lover. in fact, she appeared on one of the music videos of 6cyclemind (seen it!). Apart from hosting together with Sarah Meiers on the Philippine Fashion Week 2005, she has appeared on myriad commercials and teen magazines, and in case you haven't noticed, on Coke commercial.

She's really pretty. I can attest to that. I met her once when she came together with Matteo to our school. hmm. And right now, I'm remembering the bad memories (OMG)-- when in our school program she hosted, she asked a question, I came up on stage and got the wrong answer. Too bad. That was shameful. But that was long ago. Never mind me. I'm just getting a bit OA. Haha
