Anna Bayle: First Asian Supermodel

Who doesn’t know Anna Bayle? Anna Bayle is dubbed as the First Asian Supermodel by Wallstreet, who unsurprisingly for two years has wowed the critical eyes of the tinseltown. She was the first ever Asian Supermodel in the late 70’s and 80’s who raked the spot as one of the top three models of the whole wide world. And there’s no wonder why she is one of the highest paid model of her time, for not only because she gets nine shows a day, as contrast to an average of one of a regular professional model, not only because she gets four out of the BIG FIVE shows of New York in a season, but she has also became the muse of several renowned fashion houses like YSL, Christian Dior, Chanel, Gianni Versace, and Givenchy, among others.

Being a supermodel is seriously not an easy job. Getting nine shows a day requires her to be always running and on the go, getting in and out of the car and be with the girls and ride the train. She’s always fully booked and producers would not hesitate to pay her a day’s work just to get her on the show. She graced the catwalk for as long as she wanted until she DECIDED to retire from her seemingly endless runway career. She said that she was even called a “miracle” doing shows on 34. After all, Asians age slowly than Whites.

Before she entered the threshold in the glam world of fashion, she was a scholar at the Philippine Science High School, (no wonder why she’s so intelligent) and finished BS in pre-medicine in UP Diliman. She was part of the basketball team, and though she did not win the MS. Republic of the Philippines, after her teammates convinced her to join, for she was not prepared, a famous designer, in the incarnation of Auggie Cordero, saw her potential and taught her all about fashion since she was 16. Things was so fast that when she moved to HKafter several months, she broke into the international scene the day after she replaced Billie Blair, for a HK Trade Show, after an acccident.

Currently she launched her lipstick line on NY and is busy raising his son, Callum.

“There are a lot of beautiful Filipinas. It’s a matter of training, takes a lot of fortitude. I was shaped by wise people, like Ruben Nazareth and Petusa Lopez. They were makeup artists in Europe, who changed Philippine fashion. I listened to them, because I was willing to learn. Now it’s my turn to teach new girls how to break into (sic) the real global scene.” she adds. The former supermodel is now preparing for a series of seminars in the Philippines sometime in May.

“If I was able to ‘baby sit’ younger models like Tyra Banks and Naomi (Campbell), then I can surely help any girl from the Philippines. It would be like having a new child.” That reminds her of a long-time goal—”to make my son an incredible person. Now he’s getting a 95 percentile in IQ.” Anna intends to train Filipino girls with that same dedication.
